Rockford, Illinois – (July 16, 2016) – Today, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 pm, Patrick Harlan, 17th District candidate opposing Congresswoman Cheri Bustos in the November 8th election, will visit with Republican Precinct Committeeman at 515 N. Court Street (Law Office of Winnebago County GOP Chairman, Jim Thompson). Committeemen will be enjoying a post-training hamburger cookout.

Patrick Harlan’s position paper is attached. Harlan describes his life experience this way: “I started my life as a hard-working taxpayer at Maytag in Galesburg Il. I met my wife and moved to Galesburg in 1998. She was an inspiration in my life that opened my eyes to God… Since then I have been fighting the good fight. I am now a truck driver, who keeps America moving. I deliver gas to Casey’s General Stores throughout Illinois. I do not have a degree nor am I a millionaire. I am typical blue collar working class man trying to provide for my children and succeed in this economy.”
Harlan is pro-life, in contrast with incumbent Congresswoman Bustos. He is past coordinator of Knox County Tea Party. As a newcomer to politics, Patrick has no war chest, and is in need of financial support.
The 17th Congressional District (map attached) extends north to Jo Daviess County and south to Fulton County, extending only to the city of Peoria in Peoria County (gerrymandered much?) and includes the west side of Rockford to the Mississippi River.
